Dark Harvest is a collection of oil paintings that explore the consequences of isolation within the context of the Australian Gothic trope. The exhibition serves as a sombre contemplation on the role of the artist and questions the curse of the creative who invests time and skill into a harvest that reaps only hardship. The paintings utilise a minimal colour palette to capture the haunting beauty of the remnants of human presence set in decaying exterior and interior spaces. Supported by vintage and contemporary frames, the works romanticise the mundane into tragedy to discuss the interplay of old and new histories within the passage of time.
