A Year in Review: My 2024 Exhibitions

2024 Recap: Reflecting on Exhibitions and Achievements

2024 was an incredible year of growth and opportunity for me as an artist. I participated in eight exhibitions: one solo show, four group exhibitions, and three art prizes. Here’s a recap of the highlights:

Sequel Gallery
The year began with the 35 Below Small Works Art Prize at Sequel Gallery, where I was honored to win First Place Judge’s Choice for my oil painting ‘Fading Light’. This win marked the beginning of a new series of oil paintings exploring the Australian Gothic theme.

The prize for winning was a solo exhibition at Sequel Gallery, which became the culmination of six months of dedicated studio work. The solo exhibition titled Dark Harvest featured nine oil paintings in a mix of vintage and contemporary frames, paired with a dried floral arrangement. The show received a warm reception and it was incredibly fulfilling to see this body of work come together.

The Hue & Cry Collective Gallery

At The Hue & Cry Collective Gallery, I had the chance to showcase my work in different mediums in two of their art prizes, the Geelong Photographic Portrait Prize and The Hue & Cry Art Prize. These exhibitions allowed me to experiment and share both my photographic and painting practices with a broader audience.

Untether Gallery

As a new addition to the Creative Geelong Arts Hub, Untether Gallery hosted three exhibitions I was thrilled to be part of. I exhibited framed drawings, oil paintings, and photography across these shows, giving me the chance to explore and present diverse facets of my practice.

Liminal Gallery

Liminal Gallery’s 100+ group exhibition stood out for its unique theme of showcasing large-scale works over 100cm. This was a rare opportunity to display a large piece of work in a group setting, as size restrictions often limit such works. It was very exciting to exhibit one of my largest oil paintings to date.

Reflecting on 2024

This year brought immense growth in my oil painting technique and new opportunities to share my work with local galleries. From the excitement of an art prize win to the success of my solo show, I’m grateful for the feedback, support, and creative challenges that defined the year.
